  • Put in the extra work
Just like in the beginning you have prepared for learning Chinese, and visited some resources, books, tried to take on a basic course, you need to continue the work. There are going to be students who will go out at night to explore the city and will never do their studies. For them trying to learn Chinese in China is going to be a waste of time and money. It will never happen. A course can only be as good as your attitude is. If you are putting in the extra work it will eventually pay off and you will be able to learn Chinese in China much faster than other students. There are surely going to be some volunteering opportunities or you might get involved in a local project, research which can benefit you.

It is very important that if you feel your language is improving faster than other students' you will be asking for extra resources or work. You can also practice as much as you can to learn the writing, and ask questions. If you are keen on working and learning you will succeed. But the sad truth is many students do give up. They do not get prepared and do not want to put in the hard work required to learn Chinese in China.
  • Look for opportunities to use the language while you learn Chinese in China
 There are plenty of ways to learn and use the language in context. First of all you might sign up for a volunteering program. The internships and work experience programs are also great. But the most popular ways are still to try and use the language as many times as possible. Make yourself a phrase book and keep it with you. If you do not know the meaning of an expression or word, you need to ask locals. Or you can just watch the local television and see if you can catch a few words, phrases to try and guess the whole sentence. The wiser you are using your time and practice your language skills the more value you are getting out of the course. If you really want to learn Chinese in China you should grab every opportunity to speak, ask questions and improve your knowledge.
